In the Odintsovsky District near Moscow, the police detained a 25-year-old native of the Altai Territory, who had two automatic weapons and thirty rounds of ammunition in his car. A criminal case for illegal possession of weapons has been initiated against him, RBC reports with reference to its sources in law enforcement agencies.

According to the publication, the detainee, whose name has not been disclosed, was stopped by a traffic police officer to check his documents. He told the interrogators that he had returned from Ukraine, where he participated in military operations as part of the private military company “Wagner”. One of the interlocutors of the mass media confirmed that a representative of the leadership of the PMC came to the police department.

The creator and sponsor of PMC “Wagner”, a St. Petersburg businessman close to Vladimir Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin, commenting on the incident, said that he “punched the detainee through the bases” and that such a person “did not exist and does not exist” in the company. In addition, Prigozhin denies that PMC representatives came to the police.

  • Recently, there has been an increase in the number of cases of illegal actions in public places by military personnel – both those returning from Ukraine and those in training camps on the territory of Russia. So, at the beginning of March, in the city of Dalnegorsk of the Primorsky Krai, two mobilized people in a state of alcohol intoxication staged a shooting from a machine gun on the street. Earlier, in the city of Domodedovo, Moscow region, the police detained a man who had escaped from a part of the militia, who, being drunk, threatened to detonate a grenade. Two other intoxicated servicemen threatened to blow up a Voronezh cafe, where dozens of people were resting at that moment, and in Podolsk near Moscow eight escapees from a mobilized unit, armed with assault rifles and machine guns, were detained.
  • According to official data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, last year the number of crimes involving the use of weapons and ammunition increased by almost 30%. Belgorod and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine became the leaders in this indicator.
