Alexei Navalny was banned from saying the word “roof” in the colony

Politician Alexei Navalny, who is in a high-security prison, was forbidden to say words that could be perceived as criminal jargon, for example, “house” or “roof”. This is reported in ego social networks. According to Navalny, the use of “thug” words in a conversation can become another reason for placing him in a penal institution, even if the words are uttered outside of a criminal context. The politician appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to cancel this rule.

As Navalny clarified, the ban on the use of slang words by detainees is governed by a 1983 document of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The document is referenced in the written response he received to his complaint. At the same time, what exact words cannot be pronounced, he does not know: they refuse to provide him with a full list, referring to the secrecy of the document.

“You can, without fear, talk about the beaver’s house. No one will touch you for a song from the Bremen musicians. And they will put me in the SHIZO for this,” Navalny sneers.

The politician also reported that the court session regarding his appeal will be held on August 23.

• Navalny has been in the colony since February 2021. Then, at the request of the FSIN, the court replaced him with a conditional term in the “Yves Roche” case with a real one. This happened immediately after Navalny’s return from Germany, where he was undergoing treatment after alleged poisoning in Russia with the “Novichok” military poison.
• Initially, the politician served his sentence in the general regime colony in Pokrov and was supposed to be released in the summer of 2023, but in June 2022, the verdict in the fraud case came into force, according to which Navalny received nine years of strict regime. After that, he was transferred to a correctional colony with a strict regime in the village of Melehovo, Vladimir region.
• On June 19, a new trial began against Alexei Navalny in the case of extremism. The politician may face an additional term of up to 20 years of imprisonment. Navalny himself, Russian human rights activists and the international community consider his persecution to be political.
