The artist and musician Hryhoriy Mumrykov, convicted for the failed action on Red Square, was released on Monday. This is reported by OVD-Info.
In April, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced him to one and a half years of correctional labor, found him guilty of aiding and abetting attempted hooliganism. In August, the sentence was shortened, and on September 11, Mumrykov was released from the correctional center on parole. “I’m free! This is happiness! I don’t have enough words!” – he wrote himself in the group of his support in a telegram.
Grigory Mumrykov was found guilty of “attempted hooliganism” together with his acquaintance, artist and photographer Danyla Tkachenko. According to the investigation, they were going to hold an anti-war rally on Red Square in Moscow on May 9, 2022. To do this, they planned to place smoke bombs of yellow and blue colors in ventilation grilles and air conditioners, and set them on fire during the Victory Parade, so that the square would be enveloped in smoke in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
Danyla Tkachenko later confirmed that he had such an idea, but the action did not take place due to too close supervision by the FSB. Mumrykov did not admit his guilt. Tkachenko left Russia after being persecuted.
