The Belgorod Regional Court sentenced a local resident, Sergei Glushenkov, to four and a half years in a strict-regime prison in the case of preparing to commit state treason. This was reported by “Mediazona” with reference to the press service of the court.
Glushenkov was detained in August last year while trying to cross the border with Ukraine in the Belgorod Region. According to the investigation, he intended to join the “Freedom of Russia” legion. This is a unit of the armed forces of Ukraine, formed mainly from Russian volunteers and prisoners of war.
According to the telegram channel “Extremism – NO!”, Glushenkov bought military equipment and first aid before his arrest. Earlier, the convict was brought to administrative responsibility for the demonstration of Nazi symbols.
The other day, a court in the Tver region sent Sergei Kolin to compulsory treatment on charges of attempted participation in the “Freedom of Russia” legion. Kolin was declared insane and released from criminal liability. Kolin is called a trash blogger. He was known for finding homeless people and forcing them to get drunk on camera. In March last year, the Telegram channel “112” wrote that a person died during one of Kolin’s trash streams.
The Legion “Freedom of Russia” claims that its goals are the liberation of the regions of Ukraine occupied by the Russian army and the fight against the regime of President Vladimir Putin. The Supreme Court of Russia recognized “Legion” as a terrorist organization.
