The congress of the “New People” party is taking place in Moscow. This is the last party that can nominate a candidate for the presidency of Russia without the need to collect signatures in his support. It is reported that the leadership of the party recommended to the congress to nominate the deputy chairman of the State Duma, Vladyslav Davankov.

39-year-old Davankov ran for mayor of Moscow last year and took 4th place out of five candidates with a result of about 5% of the vote.

Also at the congress, it was announced that the “New People” and the “Party of Growth” of Boris Tytov would merge.

The CPRF previously nominated 75-year-old deputy Mykola Kharitonov for president, and the LDPR nominated its chairman, Leonid Slutsky. “United Russia” and “Just Russia for Truth” supported the candidacy of Vladimir Putin, who is running for his fifth presidential term as a self-nominated candidate.

Also on Saturday it became known about the nomination of Andrey Bogdanov for the presidency – this political technologist already participated in the elections in 2008 and took the last place then.

The day before, the “Grazhdanskaya Initiative” party nominated Boris Nadezhdin for the presidency. A former member of the State Duma declares that he opposes the war in Ukraine. To register as a candidate for him, as well as for other candidates from parties not represented in the State Duma, it is necessary to collect 100,000 signatures.

Also on Sunday, there will be a meeting of voters in support of the nomination for president of the former commander of the Donetsk separatists, FSB reserve colonel Igor Strelkov (Hyrkin). He himself is in a pre-trial detention center.

The day before, the Central Election Commission did not allow the journalist from Rzhev, Ekaterina Duntsova, who was supported by a number of Russian oppositionists, to collect signatures.
