On Friday morning, FSB officers searched human rights activists and members of the Perm Historical Memory Center (the legal successor of the Perm Memorial). This is reported in the Telegram channel of the organization.

According to lawyer Elena Pershakova, the reason for the search is a criminal case initiated in connection with the request to export the archive of the Perm “Memorial”.

Investigative actions were taken against Tatyana Margolina and Svetlana Makovetskaya (they are also recognized as members of the Council on Human Rights under the President of Russia), Igor Averkiev, Vera Sedinina, Tatyana Cherepanova, Nadezhda Agisheva and Oksana Asaulenko. It is also reported that FSB officers came to the former head of Perm “Memorial” Robert Latypov and were looking for him.

  • On May 5, Alexander Chernyshov, the chairman of the Perm Historical Memory Center, was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. As the portal 59.ru reports, the detention was also connected with the case of the removal of the Perm archive “Memorial”. Chernyshov was arrested for 15 days on charges of hooliganism.
