The European champion in short-distance swimming Anastasiya Kyrpichnikova changed her sports citizenship. Now she will play for France. Earlier, Kyrpichnikova was considered one of the most promising Russian swimmers, but she has not competed for the Russian national team for two years.

Kyrpichnikova has been living and training in France for more than four years. In her message, she thanked both France as the country for which she will now compete, and the All-Russian Swimming Federation, which gave her a start. The athlete also said that she will represent France at the next Open Water World Championships at distances of 5 and 10 kilometers.

As “Novaya Gazeta – Evropa” clarifies, Russian swimmer Mark Nikolaev also started the procedure to change sports citizenship. He intends to play for the Australian national team.

In 2022, chess players Alina Kashlynskaya and Alexandra Maltsevskaya, cyclist Pavel Sivakov and biathlete Lydia Zhurauskaite changed their sports citizenship.
