In the evening of January 4, Russian Belgorod was shelled. Photos and videos of the aftermath of the alleged missile attack appeared on social networks. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote in a telegram that the Russian air defense system shot down “10 air targets”. The Ministry of Defense of Russia claims that these are “Alder” MLRS shells. According to preliminary data, there are two victims.
The published photos and video show, in particular, that fragments of rockets or projectiles fell on the parking lot next to the apartment building. Broken windows and damaged cars are reported.
Belgorod has been under fire in recent days. The Ukrainian military does not comment on them. On December 30, as a result of shelling in the city center, 25 people died – this is the highest number of victims in a Russian city since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The shelling is taking place against the backdrop of massive missile strikes by Russian troops across Ukraine, including Kharkiv, which is adjacent to Belgorod.
On January 4, numerous explosions were reported in the annexed Crimea, Russian authorities claimed that missiles and drones had been shot down. According to the Ukrainian military, military objects were hit.
