In the summer, half of the power units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants will be taken out for repair for more than two months for repair and modernization.
The president of “Energoatom” Petro Kotin said this in a comment Ukrinform.
The most difficult period has passed, he noted, during which all power units worked. However, the units now need to be reloaded, and the best period when this can be done with the least cost and impact on the power system in terms of power shortages is summer.
“There is no big consumption during this period electricity, because there is no need to turn on the heating. This time, the power units will be repaired in the summer, so that half of the units work, and the other half is under repair,” explained Kotin.
The normal period of repair of the power unit is about 50-60 days, but everything depends on additional works. Now the power units need to be modernized, the head of “Energoatom” noted, which takes much longer.
