Ukraine wants to build another power transmission line with the EU

Ukraine is currently discussing the construction of another power transmission line that will connect Rivne NPP with Polish Chelm.
The president of “Energoatom” Petro Kotin said this in a comment Ukrinform.
According to him, the line from RANP is one of the most powerful stations in Ukraine and has 4 power units with a generating capacity of 2,835 MW.
“Since it is located in the north-west of Ukraine, it is realistic to build a line with the EU there. An investor was found – the Polish company ORLEN, which offered to build such a line under certain conditions,” Kotin said.
But, he noted, construction is currently being considered at the level of a proposal and a memorandum of intent, so negotiations on this topic are ongoing. The issue is being discussed with the participation of the Ministry of Energy, Energoatom, and Ukrenergo.
Such a project will allow Ukraine to increase the capacity of lines to the EU, Kotin noted.
“Today, there are many projects aimed at increasing the number of these interconnectors between Ukraine and the EU. One of them is the line between the Khmelnytskyi NPP and the Polish city of Rzeszów, which has not worked for 30 years,” Kotin added.
We remind you:
Energoatom stated that after the operator Ukrenergo fulfilled its obligations, the power transmission line between Ukraine and Poland, which had not worked since 1991, will be able to start again in the spring.
