Igor Mangushev, who performed with the “Skull of a Ukrainian”, died after being wounded

Political technologist and Russian army officer Igor Mangushev, known for appearing on stage last summer holding, according to him, the skull of a slain Ukrainian soldier, died in hospital after a severe head injury received on February 4 in the Luhansk region. This was reported to RIA Novosti by his friend, military officer Akym Apachev.

According to Apachev, the day before he visited Mangushev in the hospital. He was in an atonic coma and had no chance of survival.

Mangushev was wounded in the head under unexplained circumstances. According to the Telegram channel “MYH”, this happened at a checkpoint near Stakhanov (located in the Russian-controlled territory of the Luhansk region, the official Ukrainian name is Kadiyivka), and Mangushev was allegedly shot from a pistol at close range. Who could have shot him and why is not yet clear.

A video of Mangushev’s performance with a skull in his hands was distributed in August of last year. In his speech, Mangushev stated that Russia is at war “with the idea of ​​Ukraine as an anti-Russian state” and “all carriers of this idea must be destroyed.” He also said that he doesn’t care how many Ukrainian soldiers need to be killed and how. According to him, the skull belonged to a Ukrainian killed during the storming of Mariupol; this statement has not been verified.

After the publication of the video, the authorities of Ukraine officially appealed to the UN.

• Russian media called Mangushev one of the founders of the private military company “E.N.O.T.” (“Edynye narodnye obshinnye tovarichestva”) and a political technologist close to the founder of “PMC Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
• Members of “E.N.O.T.” participated in hostilities in eastern Ukraine and Syria, as well as in the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
• Now Telegram channels call Mangushev the captain of the Russian army. He spoke of himself as the commander of the anti-drone unit of the so-called People’s Militia of the LPR.
