Five employees of the Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language were detained in Moscow. The Investigative Committee suspects them of issuing falsified documents about knowledge of the Russian language to foreigners in order to obtain a residence permit.
According to “Nastoyastchee Vremya”, the suspects were searched at home and at work, after which they were officially accused of organizing illegal migration and exceeding official powers.
Mass media note a sharp increase in similar charges and criminal cases after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall.
At the end of March, thirty people were detained in St. Petersburg, including teachers of local universities, who, according to the investigation, “organized an illegal scheme to issue certificates of knowledge of the Russian language, history, and the basics of Russian law to migrants,” which brought them about 7.5 million rubles per month.
Mass detentions also took place in Krasnoyarsk and Cheboksary.
