In the Smolensk region, an automobile bridge collapsed, there is a victim

In the city of Vyazma, Smolensk region, an overpass – an automobile bridge over a railway – collapsed on Monday. A car and a truck traveling on the bridge fell from a height. The woman who was in the car died. The truck driver was hospitalized in serious condition.

A total of five people were injured, the regional press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. They are provided with medical assistance.

Due to the accident, the railway tracks on the Vyazma – Semlyovo section were damaged. Trains are suspended there. At the time of the incident, there were no trains on the site, and road clearing work is currently underway there.

The race Vyazma – Semlyovo has important transport significance. It is a part of the Moscow-Minsk railway, including military goods can be delivered between Russia and Belarus.

In addition, local authorities report that gas supply networks in the area have been damaged due to the collapse of the bridge. About 8.8 thousand человек and 69 legal entities were left without gas. Repair work is underway.

The governor of the Smolensk region, Vasyl Anokhin, said that he took the situation under personal control and went to the scene of the incident.
