In Moscow, “Oppenheimer” and “Barba” will be shown under different names

The Moscow cinema “Raduga” announced screenings of the films “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie”, which were not officially released in Russian cinemas. The paintings will be released under the other names – “Dubak” and “Bystrye svidaniya”. The mass media drew attention to this. Shows start on September 7 and 16, respectively.

As noted by the “Agentstvo” edition, the “Kinograd” network will start showing “Oppenheimer” under the original title in New Moscow, the Moscow region and in St. Petersburg on September 4-5

According to “Yandex.Afysy” information, since September 4, “Oppenheimer” will be shown in the Rostov region – in Rostov-on-Don and in Kamensk-Shakhtinsk. Screenings in Yakutsk will begin on September 5, and on September 7 the film will be shown in Abakan, Kirov, Krasnoyarsk, Magadan and Ulan-Ude.

There is no information about “Barba” showings on the service yet.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture of Russia stated that the Hollywood films “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” do not meet the “tasks of preserving traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.” As the Ministry of Culture said, the Russian box office is “saturated with high-quality domestic premieres” – the “family” film “Cheburashka”, shot in space by “Vyzov”, as well as the film “Witness”, shot in support of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

This is how the agency responded to the appeal of State Duma deputy Vladyslav Davankov, who proposed conducting an “experiment on compulsory licensing of paintings from unfriendly countries.” The Russian Cinema Fund also spoke against the legalization of the distribution of foreign blockbusters in Russia without the consent of the rights holders.

Officially, Hollywood films are not shown in Russian cinemas, since the main Hollywood studios – Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, Disney and Sony – left Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

Now the largest cinema networks show Hollywood films actually underground, according to the “pre-show service” scheme. The audience is sold a ticket to a short film, and a blockbuster is shown “for free” before it.
