In the colony No. 3 in the village of Harp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where the politician Alexei Navalny died, in the summer of 2022, the prisoner died, presumably from torture. The management of the colony tried to pass off the incident as a suicide. This is stated in the investigation of the “Cold” publication.

In all probability, the dead prisoner was 43-year-old Bahrombek Sharifov. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for organizing a group to transport drugs from Tajikistan.

The former prisoners told “Kholoda” that Sharifov was rolled up in a cloth sewn from several mattresses, wrapped on top with tape – and left lying. As a result, he suffocated.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, the colony employees destroyed the instruments of torture and claimed that the prisoner had hanged himself, but the autopsy refuted the version of suicide. As a result, five employees of the colony were charged in connection with the death of Sharifov. One of them has already been convicted under the article of exceeding official powers.

Relatives of former prisoners who died in this colony in 2016 and 2017 told “Kholoda” that they have not yet been informed of the cause or circumstances of death.

The family of one of them was given a day to take the body from IK-3 beyond the Arctic Circle. Due to the fact that the relatives did not have time to do this, the prisoner was buried without a last name, under a number, in a special plot, at the cemetery in Harpa.

Today, Alexei Navalny’s associates reported that the politician’s mother had given him an ultimatum: either he would agree to a secret funeral, or the politician would be buried in a colony. At the same time, according to the federal law, the colony is obliged to hand over the body of the deceased prisoner to the relatives, if they do not refuse to perform the funeral, “Kholod” reminds.
