In Ulan-Ude, the jury appointed 17- and 18-year-old ex-policemen Yevgenia Inkina and Dmitriy Istomin guilty of the murder of two girls in the Klyukvennaya Pad area in 2002, “Newspaper Number One” reports.
The third defendant, Alexander Popov, received five years in prison, but escaped punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
In 2021, the court acquitted Inkin and Istomin, but the relatives of the dead girls filed an appeal. In March 2023, a jury found the former police officers guilty.

Suspects in the case appeared only 17 years later, when the third girl, who participated in a picnic with local policemen, decided to testify.
