Israel will supply Finland with air defense systems “David’s Sling”

Israel and Finland signed an agreement on the supply of the Israeli anti-missile defense system “David’s Sling” to Finland. This is a long-range anti-aircraft missile complex. The transaction amount was 1.3 billion shekels (about 317 million euros).
“David’s Slingshot” is one of the world’s most advanced systems for intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft and drones. It can intercept targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. The complex was developed by the Rafael Advanced Defense Systems company in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Israel and the American Missile Defense Agency. It has been in service with the Israeli army since 2016.
After the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, Finland is modernizing its armed forces. In April 2023, previously neutral Finland joined NATO. Helsinki declares that it considers Russia to be a source of military threat. In order to strengthen the border with Russia, the Finnish side is building defensive structures, the Ministry of Defense of Finland leases border sites from the owners for conducting exercises. Recently, Russia has also been building new military bases near the Finnish border.
