Latvia stopped the activity of the company that managed Peter Aven’s villa

Latvia has stopped the activity of the company Klauģu muiža, which belongs to the co-owner of “Alfa Bank” Petar Aven. Villa Avena in the estate of the same name is registered to this company. In February, an arrest was made on the estate, as well as on other assets of the businessman. On June 20, Klauģu muiža had a tax debt of 5,450 euros.
The State Revenue Service of Latvia also prohibited the reorganization of the company and the change of its members.
Avena Klauģu muiža estate – about 50 hectares of land in a nature reserve, on the shores of two lakes. Several buildings are located there. In addition to the residential part, it includes an exhibition gallery and a spa and wellness complex.
After the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Pyotr Aven fell under the sanctions of the European Union, Great Britain, Canada, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. In March 2022, the Italian authorities seized his villa in Sardinia worth four million euros.
At the same time, Avena is not prohibited from entering Latvia, since he has the citizenship of this country. At the beginning of 2023, the Latvian authorities assessed Aven’s activities and asked if there were grounds for depriving him of his Latvian citizenship. The results were not reported.
