Earlier, in the case of the fire on the cruiser, the court sentenced Arstan Begmanov, a welder at the ship repair plant, to four years in a penal colony. He was convicted under the article about violation of safety rules during construction work, which resulted in death. According to his lawyer, the welder pleaded not guilty and intends to file an appeal. Other details are not known – the case is classified.
