This year, Moscow took the sixth place in the TOP-10 cities with the largest number of billionaires living in them – according to Forbes magazine.
After a sharp drop in the number of such residents last year, Moscow is recovering, the publication writes. According to his data, 61 billionaires now live in the Russian capital – last year there were 53 of them. Moscow was on the seventh line of the rating.
Russian wealth has largely recovered after a low level in 2022. Forbes associates this with the rise in prices for raw materials, which outpaces the impact of sanctions imposed by Western countries after the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
New York is still the first city for the ultra-rich, with 101 billionaires. Next in the rating is Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai. London is in fifth place. Mumbai, Shenzhen, Singapore and Delhi lost to Moscow in the TOP-10.
Forbes estimated the total fortune of all Moscow billionaires at $307 billion. This is $92 billion more than last year. According to the indicator of the financial condition of billionaires, Russia took third place among world capitals, second only to New York ($617 billion) and Paris ($409 billion), Kommersant reports.
