MP Mironov adopted a girl from Ukraine

The leader of the “Just Russia-Patriots-For the Truth” party, Sergey Mironov, and his wife adopted a child taken out of Ukraine. The personal data of a 10-month-old girl has been completely changed. Now she bears the surname Myronova, and her place of birth is Podolsk in the Moscow Region. “Important Histories” write about it.

As the journalists of “Important Histories” found out, at the end of August 2022, Myronov’s wife, Inna Varlamova, together with the first deputy deputy in the State Duma, Yana Lantratova, arrived in the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine.

In Kherson, they also visited the regional children’s hospital. They were accompanied by Tatiana Zavalskaya, the head of the local orphanage appointed by the Russian authorities. They examined the children, who were admitted to the hospital from the child’s home, and left.

After this, the Zavalska Nachala demanded to discharge a 10-month-old girl and a two-year-old boy.

When asked by the head of the hospital’s pediatric department why she should discharge sick children (one of them had bronchitis), Zavalskaya said that “that woman chose them and will take them to Moscow.” Doctors tried to delay the children’s discharge, but Zavalskaya insisted on speeding up the process.

Officially, the children were taken to Moscow for “examination, determination of further treatment tactics and rehabilitation.”

To adopt a child in Russia, you need to apply to the court. Such cases are considered separately. In November 2022, such a case was considered in the Podolsky City Court of the Moscow Region. Inna Varlamova was an interested person.

According to “Important Histories”, they have documents that indicate that in December 2022, Sergey Mironov and Inna Varlamova adopted a girl taken from Kherson. At the request of the adoptive parents, the child’s name and place of birth were changed in the official documents.

A source familiar with the situation told journalists that the girl’s biological mother was deprived of parental rights, and the father died. At the same time, she has other relatives in Ukraine. The fate of the two-year-old boy taken from Kherson is still unknown. According to “Important Histories”, in September 2023, he received a birth certificate, from which it follows that the child is located in the Moscow Region.

As noted by “Important Histories”, this is the first confirmed case of adoption of children who were taken from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia.

Lawyer Maria Chashchilova told the publication that the adoption of deported Ukrainian children in Russia is a crime from the point of view of international law.

“This is considered genocide. These children often have relatives or guardians in Ukraine who have lost contact with them, and in the case of children of orphanages, the guardians are the officials of these institutions. According to international law, the parties to the conflict must provide relatives and guardians with information about the missing and assist their search”, – noted the lawyer.

Canceling the adoption of a deported child is very difficult, journalists note. This can be done only through the court and on serious grounds: child abuse, alcoholism and drug addiction of the adoptive parents, or lack of normal conditions for the development and upbringing of the child.

Sergey Mironov did not comment on reports about the possible adoption of a Ukrainian child. Maria Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Russia, did not respond to the request of “Important Histories” by the time the material was published. Earlier, she said that children taken from territories not controlled by Kyiv are not adopted, but placed under guardianship.
