Navalny urged to vote against “United Russia”

Opposition Russian politician Alexei Navalny, who has been in prison for more than two years, suggested voting for any candidate against “United Russia” in the September elections.
“Go to the elections with the goal of inflicting the maximum possible damage on the ruling party and its candidates,” Navalny urged.
The “Smart Voting” strategy for the candidate chosen by Navalny’s supporters will be applied “spot-on and non-publicly,” the politician noted. He also called for participation in election monitoring.
Separately, Navalny noted the Moscow mayoral elections, which “can be ignored” because “no matter how you vote, you will vote for Putin.” Five candidates are currently running for the post of mayor of the capital, including the current mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, and the grandson of the leader of the CPRF, Leonid Zyuganov.
In total, gubernatorial elections will be held in 21 Russian regions in September. Real competition is present only in one – in Khakassia, notes the “Voice” movement. There will be four candidates on the ballot, but the main fight is between the current governor Valentyn Konovalov from the CPRF and Sergei Sokol from United Russia. “Holos” considers the results of the campaign to be unpredictable.
Federal, regional and local elections will also be held in Russia and its occupied territories. In 25 regions, remote electronic voting (DEG) will be used, which observers and the opposition have repeatedly criticized for its lack of transparency and the possibility of falsification.
