Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who is serving time in a colony in the Vladimir region, was poisoned for the seventeenth time in a detention center. About this reported his lawyer Vadim Kobzev.
According to Kobzev, Navalny received 13 days for “misrepresenting himself”. Earlier, the politician was already sent to SHIZO for this. The second reason was an unbuttoned button and refusal to wash the fence. In total, Navalny spent more than 180 days in detention.
Earlier, the prosecutor’s office wanted to sentence Navalny to another 20 years in prison in a new criminal case on extremism. The verdict should be announced in two weeks, on August 4.
- Navalny has been in the colony since February 2021. Then, at the request of the FSIN, the court replaced him with a conditional term in the “Yves Roche” case with a real one. This happened immediately after Navalny’s return from Germany, where he was undergoing treatment after being poisoned in Russia with the Novichok poison.
- In June 2022, Navalny was transferred from the general regime colony in Pokrovo to the strict regime colony in Melekhove. Navalny himself, Russian human rights activists and the international community consider the criminal prosecution to be political.
- The penitentiary is distinguished by particularly harsh conditions of detention. Navalny described it as a cell measuring two by three meters, where he has to sit on an iron stool. He also said that there is boiling water and one book in the SHIZO, compared to an ordinary cell, where there is “coffee and two books.”
- “Mediazona” created a virtual simulator of such a SHIZO.
