Alexander Permyakov, accused of blowing up the car of Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin, a supporter of the war with Ukraine, was arrested for two months. Ego is charged with an article about a terrorist attack and illegal transportation of explosives as part of a group.

According to the investigation, on May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Permyakov blew up a car in which Prilepin and his driver Alexander Shubin were driving. As a result, Prilepin received multiple injuries, and Shubin, whom the writer calls his comrade, died.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Russia stated that Permyakov, a native of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, gave a confessional statement. In the video published by the department, he says that he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services and arrived in Russia in 2022 to kill Prilepin. It was also reported that the suspect recently received Russian citizenship.

Prilepin, who was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Nizhny Novgorod, published the first post after the attempt on the Telegram channel on Sunday. He wrote that he was driving the car at the time of the explosion, not Shubin. “There is some confusion in the mass media. Sasha was driving on the right in the passenger seat. I was behind the wheel. The explosion occurred under his wheel… Both of my legs are broken (one fracture is open) and there is something else,” Prilepin wrote.

The Russian investigation accuses the Ukrainian special services of an attempt.

An adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, called the detonation of Prilepin’s car a request for internal escalation, designed to help the Russian authorities maintain control over the population and elites.
