President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited Slovakia on Friday, where he met with the country’s president Zuzana Chaputova. At a joint briefing in Bratislava, the heads of state talked about the agreements reached.
Slovakia will supply Ukraine with 16 self-propelled artillery units “Zuzana”. Ukrainian and Slovak designers will begin joint development of a new type of howitzers, and it is also planned to produce them jointly. In addition, the countries will start joint production of ammunition, Chaputova said.
Slovakia intends to help Ukraine in demining. Zelenskyi promised that Ukraine would buy the necessary equipment from Slovakia and arrange its production at its factories.
Zelensky thanked the government and people of Slovakia for the help they provide to Ukraine, including the reception of refugees. “I am grateful to each and every one here, in beautiful Bratislava, and in other cities and municipalities of Slovakia, where Ukrainians were sheltered. To people, volunteers, public organizations – absolutely everyone. We appreciate it,” he said.
The President of Ukraine also met with the Chairman of the National Council of Slovakia Borys Kollar and Slovak parliamentarians. They discussed the possibilities of implementing the “peace formula” and the prospects of Ukraine joining the European Union and NATO.
