The court in Kazan sent Ashabaly Alibekov, the author of the YouTube channel “Wild Paratrooper”, detained on February 20, to pre-trial detention center. He is accused of assaulting a policeman. Alibekov denies this. On his channel, he harshly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin and spoke out against the war in Ukraine.
Alibekov told the human rights project “OVD-Info” that a protocol was drawn up on him for disobeying the police – allegedly he refused to go to the department to draw up a protocol on the administrative article on discrediting the army. According to the video blogger, when he was detained, they put him on the ground, beat him on the face and body, left bruises and scratches, and also stabbed him with something in the back, after which he felt dizzy.
He was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest for disobeying the police, and on March 4 it became known that a criminal case of violence against a police officer had been opened against him.
Alibekov was already on trial for the article about the so-called discrediting of the Russian army due to anti-military statements. In March last year, the court sentenced him to a year and two months in prison. He was released early in November.
- Ashabaly Alibekov is 51 years old, he is a former commander of a detachment of a military unit of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia. At the beginning of the second Chechen war, he joined the reconnaissance of the special forces of the internal troops, in total he stayed in the combat zone for nine months.
- The mass media wrote about him for the first time in connection with a mass brawl in 2007, in which one Chechen student died and another was wounded by a policeman. Then Alibekov advocated the investigation of these criminals, demanded to punish the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- In 2018, Alibekov, being a contractor of the Black Sea Fleet base in Novorossiysk, recorded a video with a sharp appeal to Vladimir Putin, in which he called on the president to “leave Russia alone” and accused him of “tearing (strangling. – Approx. RS) our soldiers with the Ukrainian people”.
