The bodies of the former commander of the 6th Air Force and Air Defense Forces Vladimir Sviridov and his wife Tatiana were found in Mineralnyh Vody. They were found in their own house in the village of Andzhievsky. Investigators assume that the death was non-violent, Russian media sources say.
The 68-year-old lieutenant general graduated from the Stavropol Higher Military Aviation School, the Air Force Academy, the Military Academy of the General Staff, was a pilot, a unit commander, and a squadron commander. He served in the Far Eastern Military District, in the Group of Soviet troops in East Germany, in the North Caucasus. He headed the 6th Army until 2009.
Servicemen of army units are taking part in the war in Ukraine. Sviridov did not publicly comment on it, his participation in the armed conflict was not reported in any way. The FSB is investigating the incident, Kommersant newspaper writes. The publication calls the leak of carbon monoxide one of the versions of the investigation.
