The Federal Security Service of Russia announced that it had arrested a group of saboteurs who, according to the report, were preparing an attempt on the leadership of the annexed Crimea, including on the Russian head of the Ukrainian peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov. Also, terrorist attacks on the transport infrastructure of Crimea were allegedly being prepared. The agency names the deputy head of the office of the Ukrainian president Roman Mashovts as their organizer.

“It has been established that the immediate organizer of the terrorist attacks and the coordinator of the preparation of the murders of high-ranking officials is a close connection of the head of the GUR of the MOU, Kirill Budanov, an officer of the active reserve of military intelligence, Roman Mashovets, who was born in 1976 and holds the position of deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky from 2020,” the report quotes FSB “Interfax”.

The FSB reported the arrest of seven people, citizens of Russia and Ukraine: Viktor Podvalny, Alexander Lytvynenko, Sergey Kryvoshein, Konstantin Evmenenko, Igor Zorin, Sergey Voynarovsky. They allegedly followed officials and also bought firearms.

A citizen of Ukraine and Bulgaria named Petranov (name not disclosed) was also detained. The Russian special service reported that during the investigation of the case, they uncovered an international channel of smuggling explosives from Bulgaria through Turkey and Georgia to Russia. The FSB claims that the explosives were allegedly delivered by motor vehicle, as well as through the companies “SDEK” and “Vozovoz” under the guise of household electric stoves.

The special service published a video, which allegedly shows the arrest of members of the group and the explosive devices and explosives found in them.

During the searches, the suspects allegedly found “five ready-to-use” bombs, six kilograms of “British-made” explosives, military-use electrodetonators, radio-controlled mechanisms, and surveillance trackers.

The Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the FSB statement. Ukrainian Telegram channels call the FSB operation a staging.
