The FSB initiated a case of justification of terrorism against political scientist Borys Kagarlytskyi

The FSB opened a criminal case on the justification of terrorism against the political scientist Borys Kagarlytskyi. This became known during a search conducted on July 25 at the home of activist Alexander Archagov.

Archagov’s apartment, allegedly in Moscow, was searched on Tuesday morning. The status of the activist in the criminal case and what was wanted from him at the time of publication is unknown. In the resolution on the search, it was stated that it was being conducted within the framework of the Kagarlytskyi case, Avtozak LIVE reports.

Archagov’s lawyer Yulia Kuznetsova confirmed this to TASS. The agency does not provide details of the case. Kagarlytsky did not answer his call. The maximum penalty under the article on propaganda of terrorism is 7 years of imprisonment.

• 64-year-old Kagarlytskyi is the director of the Institute of Globalization and Social Movements, a well-known left-wing publicist, and a member of the dissident movement in the USSR. He is the chief editor of the online magazine “Rabkor”. Archagov, from the search of which the case became known, conducts streams on the magazine’s YouTube channel.
• Kagarlytsky teaches at the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninke), which regularly experiences pressure from the authorities. In 2018, his institute was included by the Ministry of Justice of Russia in the list of so-called foreign agents and is in the process of liquidation. The political scientist himself was included in a similar list in the spring of 2022.
