The FSB reported on the prevention of a terrorist attack in a Moscow synagogue

The Federal Security Service of Russia reported on the preparation of the terrorist attack in the Moscow synagogue. The agency claims that it was planned to be carried out by a certain “native of one of the countries of Central Asia”. This is reported by “Interfax” with reference to representatives of the special service.

The FSB claims that the suspect resisted arrest and was killed by the agency’s officers. When it happened and the name of the person killed, they are not named. The special service reported that explosive substances and an explosive device were found during the search of the suspect’s residence.

“While serving his family sentence for the commission of a crime of a general criminal nature, he proactively established contact with persons convicted of participating in terrorist activities, under whose influence he began to share the ideology of an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation,” – such information was reported by the FSB about the suspect.

In early March, the FSB reported the murder of two citizens of Kazakhstan in the Kaluga region, suspected of preparing an attack on a synagogue in Moscow. The suspects were named as members of the Afghan wing of the international organization “Islamic State”, recognized as a terrorist organization in a number of countries.

The Washington Post, with reference to two unnamed American officials, reported that the American special services provided the FSB with information about a possible attack on a synagogue in Moscow.

A group of armed people opened fire on visitors with automatic weapons. The building was set on fire. According to the latest data, 144 people died, more than 500 were injured.
