Rusty Abushaev, mayor of the city of Bolshoi Kamen in Primorsky Krai, who went to war in Ukraine after a criminal case was opened against him, was awarded the Order of Courage for his participation in the war in Ukraine and “capturing NATO trophies.” According to Russian state media, he participated in demining and handed over samples of NATO weapons to the command.
Previously, Abushaev was awarded the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” – also during the war.
In March 2023, a case of land fraud in the amount of about 54 million rubles through fake persons was initiated against Abushaev, “Meduza” reports. He was put on the federal wanted list, the court ruled on his arrest in absentia. In April, Abushaev said that he volunteered for the war in Ukraine and joined the “Tiger” battalion. After that, the Primorye Regional Court canceled the decree on arrest, and on August 11, the court ordered the investigation to cancel the decree on the search for the mayor.
