On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia put 54 British citizens on the “black list”. Among those who will now be banned from entering Russia are journalists from leading British publications, British Minister of Culture and Sports Lucy Fraser and Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan.

14 journalists included in the stop-list represent publications such as the BBC, The Guardian and The Telegraph. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that they are “participating in the fabrication of anti-Russian slurs” and “try to suppress demands for an objective coverage of events in Ukraine, eliminate signs of dissent using the methods described by George Orwell in “1984” and “The Manger”.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Culture, Mass Media and Sports of Great Britain Fraser is actively lobbying for the international sports isolation of Russia. Another official on the stop list – Deputy Defense Minister Annabel Golda – is considered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be responsible for the supply of weapons to Ukraine, including “shells with depleted uranium.” Prosecutor of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Karim Khan, came under Russian sanctions due to the Ministry of Internal Affairs issuing a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova.

In addition, representatives of British companies Prevail Partners, “Institute of Public Relations”, “International Association of Public Relations” and “Association of Public Relations and Communications” are included in the “black list”, which the diplomatic agency accuses of “anti-Russian activities”.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has promised that it will continue to expand its “black lists”.
