The Patriarchate of Constantinople reinstated Alexei Uminsky

The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate reinstated the archpriest of the Moscow priest Alexei Uminsky, journalist Ksenia Luchenko reported on Tuesday in her Telegram channel “Orthodoxy and zombies”.

She noted that Uminsky will serve in one of the parishes of the Constantinople Patriarchate in Europe. Later, Luchenko published a link to the official report on the results of the Synod.

At the beginning of February, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia approved the decision of the diocesan court of Moscow to deprive Umina of the rank of archpriest. Before that, the church court ruled that Uminsky “is subject to excommunication for violating the priest’s oath” – he refused to read the prayer “for Holy Russia”. We are talking about a special prayer of Patriarch Kirill, which speaks of the “victory of Holy Russia”. Russia in the Russian Orthodox Church refers to the entire territory that is considered canonical, including Ukraine.

In January, priest Uminsky was removed from the rectory at the Trinity Church in Khokhly and banned from serving.

According to the mass media, the repression against the archpriest followed his anti-military attitude, as stated in an interview with the former editor-in-chief of the radio station “Echo of Moscow” Alexey Venediktov. Archpriest Andriy Tkachyov, a native of Lviv, known for supporting the invasion of Ukraine, was appointed instead of Uminsky as the abbot of the Trinity Church.
