In St. Petersburg, the police evacuated the “Listva” bookstore on Sunday, allegedly due to a report of a mine attack. This happened before a lecture by the former military leader of pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk, Igor Strelkov (Hyrkin). The day before, the police had already interrupted his performance.
As Strelkov wrote in a telegram, six police cars drove up to the building. The publication “Fontanka” reports that in addition to the Russian Guard, operatives of the anti-terrorism and constitutional protection service of the FSB of Russia came to the store. They did not take part in the evacuation, but watched from the sidelines.
The publication notes that only the bookstore was evacuated due to the alleged bomb report, all other organizations located in the building are working normally.
The shop “Leaves” in St. Petersburg is opened by the publishing house of Russian nationalists “Black Hundred”. The creators support the invasion of Ukraine and hold fundraising events for the Russian military participating in it.
The day before, the police blocked the store before Strelkov’s lecture, warned the organizers of the meeting that the event could lead to a violation of public order. Then the organizers announced that the lecture would take place anyway.
- In November, Igor Strelkov was sentenced in absentia by a Dutch court in The Hague to life imprisonment for his involvement in the crash of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 passenger plane over Donbass in 2014. 298 people died in the disaster, he was accused of their murder. He denies guilt. In addition, he is suspected by the Ukrainian investigation of terrorism and war crimes.
