The State Duma adopted a bill on attracting schoolchildren to work

On July 20, the State Duma adopted the draft law on mandatory involvement of schoolchildren in “socially useful work” in the second and third, final readings.
According to the draft law, the provision requiring the consent of parents to involve children in work will be removed from the legislation. The students will be involved in the work taking into account “age and psychophysical characteristics,” the document says. Such work will not be paid.
The authors of the changes previously said that “publicly useful work” can be considered, for example, planting trees and flowers on the school territory, participating in the decoration of the classroom or school grounds for events.
The deputies also allowed to rename the discipline “Basic Safety of Life Activity” to “Basic Safety and Protection of the Family”. The changes provide for the appearance in the discipline of a module on initial military training and the basics of countering extremism and terrorism. The subject is mandatory, it will not be possible to refuse it.
Against the background of the war with Ukraine, state propaganda among children became more active in Russia. In schools, the school week begins with the singing of the national anthem and the raising of the flag, mandatory classroom hours “Talks about the important” have been introduced, during which children are told about a special military operation – that’s how Moscow officially calls military operations against Ukraine.
