US President Joe Biden has nominated Admiral Lisa Franketta to the post of head of the country’s navy. The appointment must be approved by the Senate. This is the first time that a woman will hold the top position in the US Navy. In addition, Franketti is the second woman in the history of the United States to hold the rank of admiral.

Presenting Franketta’s candidacy, the White House administration mentioned that she has served in the Navy since 1985. On her account – command of the Sixth Fleet of the United States in the Mediterranean Sea, the naval forces of the United States in Korea, and service in the joint department of strategy and planning. Franketta now holds the position of Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the US Navy.
Franketta’s first education is a journalist. Then she graduated from the naval college and has not left the navy since then.
