What is known

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that talks between representatives of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN are planned for May 10-11 in Istanbul. A multilateral and bilateral meeting is planned.

“The extension of the “grain agreement”, which is especially important for low-income countries, will be discussed. “There will also be a detailed consideration of the issue of the safe return of Turkish commercial vessels and their crews, which are blocked in Ukraine due to the conflict,” the ministry said in a statement.

At first, Wednesday, May 3 was mentioned as a possible date, then the Turkish side announced May 5, but, as far as is known, the negotiations did not take place then.

As you know, at the last moment before the end of the previous term of the “grain agreement” on March 18, it was still extended. However, Moscow soon announced that it had agreed to an extension of only 60 days (until May 18) – half of the standard period of 120 days – and threatened to terminate the agreement if its demands were not met.
