On Friday afternoon, two powerful explosions occurred in Luhansk, located far from the front line on the territory controlled by Russia.
Telegram channels publish photos and videos of columns of black smoke rising over the city.
The fact of the explosions is confirmed by Russian military bloggers. “Something just flew over Luhansk, it sounded like an airplane, then there was a whistle and the sound of an explosion,” writes the “Older Eddy” Telegram channel. The leaders of the Telegram channels assume that it could be a strike by cruise missiles, in particular the British Storm Shadow, the deliveries of which became known to Ukraine the day before. Luhansk is beyond the range of conventional MLRS.
So far, there are no official reports about the explosions – neither from the Russian side, nor from the Ukrainian side.
The so-called “LPR Day” is being celebrated in Luhansk today. 9 years ago, Russian-backed separatists announced the creation of the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic in the Luhansk region of Ukraine. Leonid Pasechnyk, the head of the LPR appointed by Russia, together with Andrey Turchak, secretary of the General Council of United Russia, laid flowers in the city earlier today, reports “Dozhd”.

CNN reports that the British government received guarantees from Kiev that the missiles will not attack internationally recognized Russian territory. However, we are not talking about targets in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
