UEFA did not exclude teams from Belarus from the competition

The UEFA Executive Committee decided against the exclusion of the team from Belarus. This is reported by “Glavpost” with reference to Sportschau.

“Football teams from Belarus will also still be able to take part in international competitions. The UEFA Executive Committee has taken a decision against the exclusion,” the message says.

UEFA President Alexander Ceferin announced that the country will be deprived of the right to hold the women’s football championship for athletes under 19 years of age.

“We discussed Belarus and decided that the country will be deprived of the women’s under-19 championship,” Ceferin said.

Otherwise, according to his words, “the situation is under control.”

Earlier, Ceferin received a letter from more than 100 members of the European Parliament, who called for the exclusion of Belarus. The letter of the deputies stated: “The fact that the Belarusian national team is participating in the European Championship will later be used by (President) Lukashenko and his propaganda team to prove that he is well known in the international community.”

Wimbledon is not the only sports competition where Russian and Belarusian athletes compete. The International Olympic Committee suggested that there are “too many wars” to ban them from participating in the games.

The Government of Ukraine adopted a protocol decision to offer Ukrainian athletes to participate only in those qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games in Paris, where there will be no Russians.
