Ukraine started the nationalization of Oleg Deripaska’s assets

Ukraine started the nationalization of the enterprises of the Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska. The relevant decision was made by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, the SBU reports.

“Glukhovskiy Quartzite Quarry”, “Khustsky Quarry” and “Zhezhelovsky Quarry” will be transferred to Ukraine. The value of assets is more than 10 billion hryvnias (270 million dollars).

The SBU statement says that Deripaska is part of the inner circle of Russia’s military and political leadership. The businessman, according to the special service, managed enterprises through controlled structures in different regions of Ukraine.

In turn, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported that 350 properties worth more than two billion hryvnias were confiscated from Deripaska’s state income.

  • Oleg Deripaska has been on the US sanctions list since 2018. Washington then declared that the businessman represented the interests of the Russian authorities around the world, including controlling the assets and laundering the money of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, he was suspected of meddling in the American elections.
  • In September 2022, the US Ministry of Justice accused Deripaska of violating the sanctions regime – this is a criminal offense
  • Since 2022, the businessman is also under sanctions from the European Union and Great Britain because of Russia’s war with Ukraine.
  • Deripaska denies all charges.
