“I simply could not remain silent and inactive, seeing what chaos is now happening in my homeland. In Russia, I was completely tied hand and foot, and accordingly, I could not do anything useful for the development of my country, because, at best, I would have ended up behind bars very quickly,” Kryukov wrote.
- Vyacheslav Kryukov was sentenced to six years in prison in August 2020. He spent more than two years in the colony, before that he was in the Moscow pre-trial detention center for the same amount of time. Kryukov was 19 years old at the time of his arrest in March 2018.
- A criminal case against “New Greatness” was initiated in March 2018. According to the investigation, seven young people, the youngest of whom was 19 years old, and the oldest – 33 years old, created an extremist community and prepared a coup d’état. The defendants’ lawyers argued that the criminal case was the result of provocation by law enforcement officers, and the “New Greatness” community itself never existed.
