On October 1 – on the fortieth day after the death of the founder of PMC “Wagner” Evgeny Prigozhin in a plane crash in the Tver region – unofficial events in his memory were held in a number of Russian cities.

In no less than three cities, car races with the symbols of PMC “Wagner” were held, and in approximately 20 cities of Russia, Belarus and the annexed Crimea, so-called national memorials were established, where flowers and wreaths with the organization’s symbols are brought. “Agency” writes about it. Photographs and videos from places where Prigozhin is remembered are published by the Telegram channel Razgruzka Wagner.

As the “Agency” writes, memorials have appeared in Moscow, Sochi, Abakan, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Khabarovsk, Volgograd and other cities, as well as Belarusian Gomel and annexed Sevastopol. Hundreds of people laid flowers at the memorial in Moscow at the Church of Maxim the Confessor. A prayer service was held at Prigozhin’s grave in St. Petersburg.

Motor races were held in Krasnodar Krai, Novosibirsk and Samara.

A PMC representative told Sibir.Realii that about 150 cars drove through the city. The cars went to the Husynobrod cemetery, where more than 300 “Wagner” mercenaries are buried and a monument was erected in their honor. There was a laying of flowers and a memorial service. The interlocutor of the publication emphasized that no political meaning was attached to the event, it was dedicated only to the memory of Prigozhin and other commanders of PMC “Wagner”.

  • On August 23, a private plane crashed in the Tver region. According to official data, all ten people on board died. Among the passengers were Yevgeny Prigozhin, Dmitry Utkin (call sign “Wagner”), as well as other commanders and mercenaries of PMC “Wagner”. Prigozhin was buried at the Porohovsky cemetery in St. Petersburg, and the farewell was held in a closed format. The burial took place without military honors, despite the fact that the businessman has the title of Hero of Russia.
  • What caused the disaster is unknown. The investigation did not name any official versions.
  • PMC “Wagner” is a Russian unofficial armed formation created by Yevgeny Prigozhin. PMC mercenaries took an active part in the war with Ukraine, as well as in ground operations in Syria and Africa. The company’s fighters are accused of multiple war crimes. Prigozhin died two months later after the demand for armed rebellion organized by PMC “Wagner”.
  • The other day, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, met with one of the former commanders of “Wagner”, Dmitry Troshev, and suggested that he continue to oversee the so-called volunteers who would be subordinate to the Ministry of Defense (which Prigozhin objected to). It is not yet clear whether the structure of PMC “Wagner” will be preserved.
