10 men reported sexual violence by a doctor in Transcarpathia

The endoscopist of the Irshava city hospital in Transcarpathia is suspected of sexually assaulting patients while they were unconscious.

About the incident reported journalist and lawyer Roman Kelemen of the Transcarpathian Center for Legal Aid, and the police confirmed the information in a comment to “UP. Life”.

Now there are 10 victims in the case, and all of them are men. They themselves turned to the law enforcement officers.

The police informed the doctor about the suspicion. The court has already chosen a preventive measure for him – night house arrest.

“We have registered this criminal proceeding. Now he has already been notified of the suspicion under the first and second part of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The victims themselves turned to us. We have started an investigation. The main work has already been done, then we will refer the case to court”says the spokeswoman for the Zakarpattia Police, Hanna Dan.

According to human rights defender Kelemen, the doctor used medical drugs that made the patients unconscious, and then filmed the sexual violence on a phone camera.

He kept photos of naked patients in his phone, and also allegedly put them on the avatar of contacts.

The law enforcement officers did find photos of the victims in the doctor’s phone.

“Only in January, the doctor took 260 photos of sexual abuse of patients. He was exposed by accident – one of his colleagues. And then the patient turned to the police station.”– writes Kelemen.

The suspect himself no longer works at the medical facility. And in the comments of ZAXID.NET, the management of the hospital toldthat all the staff were shocked when they learned about the abuse of patients.

“This doctor has worked in our medical institution all his life, for 30 years. He is an endoscopist. He examines the stomach of patients with an endoscope under anesthesia and painkillers. He never showed such tendencies, he was quiet and calm.”the director of the Irshava District Hospital, Serhiy Karaslai, told reporters.

The police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 and 2 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code (Sexual violence committed repeatedly). If the court proves the doctor’s guilt, he is in danger 7 years old behind bars

At the same time, Roman Kelemen called on the Irshava Hospital to conduct an official investigation and find out who from the administration was supposed to control the provision of medical services.
