42% of surveyed Ukrainians were against the legalization of same-sex marriages, and 33% of them were categorically against it. Only every third respondent allows the legalization of same-sex marriages (37% – in favor, 22% – undecided), reports the Sociological group “Rating”. Questions about same-sex marriage and the employment of migrants from the Middle East “remain ambiguous”, say sociologists in the latest survey. Respondents mainly want to have free medicine and education in Ukraine (61% and 57% of respondents agreed with this, respectively), not to sell land to foreigners (57%). They also want to see Ukraine as a country in which the state (and not the individual) is responsible for increasing the population’s income (53%), and at the same time with a free market in the economy (58%), a high level of democracy (64%) and media freedom (75% ). Although there are almost no age differences in the issue of the need to regulate the economy or the free market. “Men more than women support the initiatives of paid education and medicine, a free economy, while women show more tolerance for same-sex marriages. Also, residents of cities support democratic and liberal initiatives somewhat more (than residents of villages),” says the Rating. Independence of Ukraine is also supported by the absolute majority of citizens – 89% of respondents. The survey was conducted on August 16-20, 2023. 6,050 respondents took part in it, including 700 IDPs and 750 refugees abroad. The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95 for the entire data set is no more than 1.5%. For sub-arrays (IDPs and refugees): no more than 4%.
