44% of Ukrainians have a neutral attitude towards LGBT military personnel – survey

27% of surveyed Ukrainians rather or unequivocally have a positive attitude towards LGBT representatives serving in the armed forces. At the same time, 25% of respondents are negative. This is evidenced by the results of the Rating group survey conducted on March 27-29, 2023. 44% of respondents have a neutral attitude towards LGBT military personnel. At the same time, 15% of respondents answered that they perceive such people “unequivocally positively”, and 17% – “unequivocally negatively”. A third of people who took part in the study – 34% – believe that LGBT representatives experience discrimination during their service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 42% of people believe that LGBT military personnel should be given the opportunity to enjoy the rights provided by law for all military personnel and their family members. After all, in the case of the death of a partner who served in the Armed Forces during the war, representatives of the LGBT community do not have the right to identify and receive the body for burial. The survey was conducted by telephone interview method. It was attended by 2,000 people over the age of 18 from all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile connection at the time of the survey. The error of representativeness of the study is no more than 2.2%.
