86% of teenagers see their future in Ukraine – survey

95% of surveyed Ukrainian teenagers believe in the victory of Ukraine in the war. Also, 86% see their future in Ukraine. Compared to similar studies before the full-scale invasion, this figure has tripled, say sociologists. This is evidenced by the results of the all-Ukrainian sociological study “Teenagers and their life during the war: moods, values, future”, reports the charitable foundation “Klub Dobrodiyiv”. 73% of teenagers are most worried about war. Also, young people were worried about blackouts, explosions, sirens and air alarms, service of relatives or friends in the army, restrictions due to curfews. For the majority of children, the biggest change was fear for life and health – both for themselves and for their loved ones (38%). In second place is unknown and unclear future (12%), in third place is friends moving to other cities or abroad (11%). “Despite the fact that war is a key cause of concern for teenagers, 93% of them believe in themselves and their own strength and believe that they are making efforts for self-realization, and almost 70% know what they want to become in the future, although they do not see the opportunity to plan now for a long period of time,” the researchers say. At the same time, young people need more support – 59% of teenagers would like it from their parents, friends or teachers. During a full-scale war, 43% of those surveyed had already volunteered: collecting funds for the military, weaving camouflage nets, packing aid, or cooking and distributing food. Also, teenagers believe that during the reconstruction of the country, they can become useful by developing the economy and infrastructure, in particular, through volunteering. In the second place among the potential expenses of such an amount is help to the family and charity. The results of the survey were published by the charitable foundation “Klub Dobrodiyiv” with the support of the humanitarian organization Plan International. The survey was conducted by the Kantar company among teenagers aged 13-19 from all over Ukraine. 600 teenagers aged 13-19 from Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro took part in the study.
