“Chain”: the band “Kryhitka” released a clip about the rehabilitation of veterans through sports

The band “Kryhitka” in collaboration with the army relief fund “Return Alive” released a music video to draw attention to the rehabilitation of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war through sports. The video for the song “Chain” contains footage from the selection for the national team of Ukraine for the international Paralympic sports competitions Invictus Games. The leader of the band Oleksandra Koltsova said that she wrote the song “Chain” even before the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. “Until 2022, it sounded like my personal story: you hold on to a person, sometimes too strongly… Today we all hold on to each other, hold each other, Ukraine is one big chain: military, civilians, relatives. And we all turned out to be stronger than we thought,” the singer emphasized. The “Return Alive” foundation reported that there are currently no final statistics on the number of veterans who went through the Russian-Ukrainian war, but their number may reach two million. The foundation adds that adaptive sports, in particular, help veterans return to a full-fledged life in the rear. “Adaptive sports are an opportunity to continue an active full life in conditions when the body has significant limitations after an injury or illness. They allow our defenders to restore faith in themselves,” says Taras Kovalik, head of the Veterans Department of “Come Back Alive”. In order to raise funds for the rehabilitation of wounded veterans through sports, the fund launched the “Support the Invincibles” project. The collected money will go to the sports rehabilitation program of defenders who were wounded and injured during hostilities. In autumn, the athletes will represent Ukraine at the Invincible Games in adaptive sports in Dusseldorf. “Now there are thousands of veterans who have been wounded or injured while defending us and our country. And helping them recover, believe in themselves and inspire them to rehabilitate through sports is one of the strategic goals of the Foundation,” the foundation added.
