A draft law was submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which prohibits medical interventions aimed at gender reassignment. This is reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS with reference to a document posted by the vice-speaker of the State Duma, Petro Tolstoy, on Telegram. Deputies of all five factions of the State Duma, almost 400 parliamentarians, submitted a draft law for consideration, which supplements the law “On the Basics of Health Protection of Citizens in the Russian Federation” with provisions that, in particular, “prohibit the implementation of medical interventions aimed at changing a person’s sex.” At the same time, the draft law allows medical intervention for the treatment of congenital anomalies of the genital organs in children. Also, the draft law prohibits civil status registration authorities (RACS) from changing or correcting the gender in documents on the basis of a relevant certificate from a hospital. A corresponding amendment is being made to the law “On Civil Status Acts”, which currently allows the RATS authorities to change a person’s gender in documents. The draft law proposes to recognize this norm as having lost its validity. The vice-speaker of the State Duma of the aggressor country “argues” the need to adopt the bill by saying that it is necessary to prevent “the penetration of Western anti-family ideology.” “Why is this being done? We are preserving Russia for posterity – with its cultural and family values, traditional foundations, putting a barrier on the way to the penetration of Western anti-family ideology,” the deputy added.
