In Kyiv, a mother and her roommate who forced 13- and 12-year-old children to act in child pornography were convicted. The criminals were sentenced to the maximum penalty – 15 years of imprisonment, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reports. “The prosecutor proved in court that the woman and her roommate, having two minor children to support – a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, used violence against them and forced them to participate in the creation of child pornography,” the report says. The underage brother and sister were forced to act in sexual images, to simulate sexual intercourse. The defendants then distributed this pornographic content on the Internet. The violence and rape continued for one year and stopped only after the intervention of law enforcement officers. The Desnian District Court of Kyiv upheld the maximum punishment proposed by the juvenile prosecutor. Child abusers were sentenced to 15 years in prison with a 3-year ban on engaging in activities related to access to information and telecommunication systems. Also, information about the perpetrators was entered into the Unified Register of persons convicted of crimes against the sexual freedom and sexual integrity of minors. Currently, the children are with their legal representative – their grandmother. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigators of the Desnyan Police Department of the National Police Directorate in Kyiv and operational support of the Migration Police Department of the National Police. It will be recalled that the perpetrators were also exposed thanks to cooperation with Australian law enforcement officers.
