Vaccination against COVID-19 and flu can be done at the same time. You save time

Despite the fact that both diseases have similar symptoms or are sometimes asymptomatic, it is important to understand that the vaccination against COVID-19 does not protect against the flu and vice versa. The thing is that they are caused by different viruses.

However, according to the recommendations of the National Technical Expert Group on Immunoprophylaxis, influenza and COVID-19 vaccines can be given on the same day. Immunologists emphasize that simultaneous vaccination against both viruses is safe and effective.

In this way, you protect yourself from two dangers at once, saving time at the same time. However, such vaccinations should be given in different parts of the body: influenza – in the muscle, COVID-19 – subcutaneously.

We would like to remind you that the vaccine against COVID-19 remains free of charge, while the flu vaccine is already available in pharmacies. Vaccination can be done through an appointment in the Helsi system, at a family doctor or without prior appointment at a vaccination point.

Ukraine currently has almost 5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for adults and children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are also forming mobile teams for vaccination in remote areas and settlements. Medical workers who are part of such teams have received appropriate training in the use of anti-virus vaccines and received the necessary equipment for their proper and safe transportation and storage. According to the approved schedule, teams go to villages and towns in hard-to-reach and remote areas and vaccinate against COVID-19 those patients who could not get to the vaccination centers on their own.
